OTTAWA--Canadian manufacturing shipments increased in June at a faster-than-expected pace on strong chemical sales , Statistics Canada said Friday.
Factory sales increased 0.6% to 51.96 billion Canadian dollars ($47.69 billion). Market expectations were for a 0.4% advance, according to economists at Royal Bank of Canada. The level of sales is the fourth-highest on record.
Volumes rose 0.2% in the month.
