PARIS--French industrial production shrank faster than expected in September, statistics showed Thursday.
Industrial production in the eurozone's second-largest economy contracted 1.1% in September from August, the statistics agency Insee said. Economists polled by The Wall Street Journal had forecast a 0.3% monthly decline in September.
Insee revised its estimate for industrial output in August to a expansion of 2.3% from 2.1% published last month.
Manufacturing output of capital goods contracted 4.9% on month in September, while refining rose 1.3%, Insee said.
