Rubber prices across most Asian markets ended mostly lower Tuesday amid thin trading volume in the ongoing holiday season.

The most-active rubber contract on the Shanghai futures exchange for May delivery fell 410 yuan to settle at CNY17,590 ($2,531) per ton.

Trade will continue to be thin amid the holiday season, traders say.

Tokyo rubber future prices ended slightly higher, bolstered by investor optimism on expected improvement in demand from China.

The Tokyo Commodity Exchange rubber contract for June delivery ended up 1.7 yen at Y257.2 ($2.19) a kilogram.
