Tokyo rubber futures rallied sharply Wednesday after the release of data by the Rubber Trade Association of Japan, which showed that stocks of crude rubber had continued to fall.

Japan's crude rubber stocks totaled 5,253 metric tons as of Dec. 20, down 5.5% from 5,559 tons as of Dec. 10, data from the Rubber Trade Association of Japan showed Wednesday.

In addition, the Tokyo market was playing catch-up having been closed Tuesday, when both the Shanghai Futures market and the Sicom rallied.
