BEIJING--China recorded a $26.1 billion service trade deficit in December, widening from the $25.4 billion deficit in November, according to data released by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange on Thursday.

China's merchandise trade surplus stood at $43.9 billion for the month, compared with a surplus of $45.9 billion in October, the regulator said.

In December, China reported a service and merchandise trade surplus of $17.9 billion for the month, in comparison with a $20.5 billion surplus in November, according to the regulator.
