Citigroup Inc. said Monday that it is cooperating with an industrywide investigation of interest rate swaps.

The bank said in a quarterly securities filing that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission is investigating "the trading and clearing of interest rate swaps by investment banks."

"Citigroup is cooperating with the investigation," the bank added in the filing. A bank spokesman declined to comment further.

In May, the CFTC fined the bank over accusations the bank tried to manipulate interest-rate benchmarks. The CFTC at the time also recognized Citigroup's cooperation and noted that the bank itself had identified and self-reported some of the misconduct.
