HONG KONG--The Hong Kong Exchange Fund's investment gains in the third quarter rose sequentially to 42.5 billion Hong Kong dollars (US$5.48 billion), thanks to increases from local and overseas equities, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority said Tuesday.

The exchange fund's investment gains totaled HK$18.9 billion in the previous quarter.

The latest result brought the fund's income for the January-September period to HK$86.8 billion, said the HKMA, the city's de facto central bank.
