HONG KONG--Hong Kong's unemployment rate was steady at 3.4% in the three-month period ended October amid a stable labor market, the Census and Statistics Department said Thursday.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate was unchanged from the July-to-September period, matching the median forecast of 3.4% in a Wall Street Journal poll.

Secretary for Labour and Welfare Matthew Cheung said the labor market is expected to remain stable in the near term, but global uncertainties and their potential impact on the local economy remain causes for concern.
